DEFORA has a general assembly that comprises key stakeholders. The General Assembly is conducted once a year (at the end) to reflect on the work done in a year as well as plan for the subsequent year. The General Assembly is an interactive and consultative process where the SWOT of the organization is done and recommendations are drawn to improve the performance of the organization.

DEFORA has a strong Board which is the supreme body of the organization. It comprises seven members (Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, and three members) and it performs the following functions; – Provides a strategic direction to the organization – Reviews and approves policies for the organization. – Monitoring/oversight role of all organization work. – Review and approves annual reports, work plans, and budgets. – Conducts recruitment of senior staff in the organization – Provides technical guidance to the organization such as in finance matters among others. – Participates in fundraising for the organization The current Board of Directors is chaired by Rev. Moses Kadidi, a clergy who has been involved in the management and leadership of different civil society organizations in Uganda for over 20 years.

DEFORA has a highly experienced team of over 10 staff with diverse qualifications ranging from Social Work, Human Resources, and Finance among others and these are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. Secretariat is headed by the Executive Director, Rev. Stephen Kalyebara, a holder of a Master’s in public health and a Bachelors’s in social work and social administration and project planning and management with over 20 years of experience in managing civil society organizations. The staff is supported by the existing community-based grass root structure
