Priority focus in line with Economic Empowerment

  • Supported schools in Kyenjojo districts to improve their hygiene and nutrition.

  • Supported smallholder farmers involved in Coffee, Beans, Maize Value Chains, and other products in the Rwenzori region to access better markets by facilitating processes of market linkages between farmers and buyers, development of marketing plans, market research, and surveys, through information sharing and training on the use of appropriate technology to meet the market demands and penetrate better profitable markets.

  • DEFORA has strengthened Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and built the capacity of rural communities by targeting good agronomic practices and post-harvest management. This further addressed the challenges of access to investment, technology, quality inputs, and integration with markets that smallholder farmers face.

  • Promoted agricultural innovations to strengthen smallholder farmers in the value chains of crop and animal husbandry.

  • Supported farmers and youth to build market-relevant skills including literacy and to utilize viable livelihood opportunities in the area of operation.

  • Promoted life skills among the youth and children in order to strengthen their self-esteem. through CRVPF support, We have supported and trained more than 105 adolescent girls and boys hands on skills.
    Among these skills are tailoring and liquid soap making at four training spaces in Kyegegwa town council and Mpara sub-county

  • Rural smallholder farmers in the Rwenzori region have been facilitated to effectively participate and gain from other levels of the value chains including bulking, value addition and packaging of their products using simple and affordable technologies to attract better prices.

  • Gave seed capital to 26 VLSA groups
